Aichi D3A 'Val' - part 1

The same F-Toys set which brought the 'Kates' (whose build I covered in earlier posts) also contained some other Jap Navy types including two examples of the Kates' comtemporary, the 'Val' dive bomber.

Build proceeded smoothly - here is the first 'Val' awaiting drier glue and additional markings.
The components of the second 'Val'.
The second 'Val' nearing completion.  The fuselage halves were a bit reluctant to stay together - hence the unorthodox position depicted.  Probably best not to try this in a real 'Val'...

They're generally pretty good and make such neat models that it's worth spending a bit of extra time correcting the odd flaw.

In that case I'll post part 2 of the Val story on Tuesday! Look forward to hearing about your grandfather.

Thanks - a good result for relatively little effort.
